Our Lady of Perpetual Support brings health, wellness, and opportunity to vulnerable children and those living with HIV/AIDS in the Kisumu region of Kenya.

OLPS runs a school that provides education to children from kindergarten to grade 8. Their children’s rescue centre offers orphaned and abused children a nurturing and safe environment creating a healthy space for them to thrive.

Their team employs evidence-based interventions derived from successful educational models to ensure that students receive personalized instruction that matches their individual skill levels.

Programs include: tutoring and mentorship, trade and skills building for young adults, preparing students for national exams, providing access to books and library resources, and a community arts centre.

Transforming lives, one girl at a time

 

Rahab Uganda has a specific mission: to restore the self-image of girls and young women affected by sexual exploitation and human trafficking and empower them to proactively engage in personal transformation.

In addition to fighting human trafficking and exploitation, Rahab runs a residential shelter in Kasangati Gayaza that provides holistic services to children and young people between (9 -18 years) who have been victims of trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation.

Rahab also operates a runs a drop-in centre that offers psychosocial support, education, economic skills development, early childhood development, health and nutrition services.

Since 2005, their outreach programme has reached 15,000 children and has fully served 400 girls.

Inspired by his own experience of isolation and stigma as a youth living with a disability, Bahati Satir Omar established Uwezon Youth Empowerment in 2014 with a vision to advocate, empower, and serve Rwandan children and youth with disabilities to live independently and with dignity.  Since then, thousands of children and young people have been empowered to live independent, full meaningful and dignified lives.

Collaborating with local partners, Uwezo leads advocacy programmes that promote equal access to human rights, healthcare, and economic opportunity.

To date they have enabled over 4800 children with disabilities to access quality education. Uwezo also provides caregiver training and support and ensures young people have access to inclusive health services.

They are a leader in Lesotho’s fight against human trafficking by providing prevention, protection, and rehabilitation programs in partnership with all stakeholders.

Beautiful Dream Society provides women and girls with shelter, food, clothing, emotional support, legal support, and psychological and spiritual support in a safe, trauma-informed home environment. In addition to anti-human trafficking advocacy, they monitor boarders and known travel routes to stop trafficking before people are victimised.

Gabriella Children Rehabilitation Centre (GCRC) was established to promote empowerment, rehabilitation and community inclusion of children and youth living with disabilities.

Located in Hai District, Kilimanjaro, GCRC provides assessments and intensive therapeutic interventions for children and youth with cognitive and physical disabilities, as well as specialized early childhood education programs. Their therapists and teachers conduct visits in homes and communities to empower families and communities to better understand their roles in supporting people living with disabilities.

Izere Mubyeyi was founded in 2004 in Kigali by 23 parents and friends of children living with intellectual and learning disabilities with a goal to create opportunities for their children.

Today, Izere Mubyeyi provides access to quality education and health care, including running an early childhood centre for children ages three to six. They also provide parents and caregivers with psychosocial support and offer economic empowerment, skills training, and disability rights advocacy.

Since its inception in 2000, NNO has served 21 communities of Ndola and Luanshya providing services to fight poverty, HIV/AIDS, food insecurity, clean water deficiency, and social injustice.

The organisation places special emphasis on investing in children, women, and girls because their community-based interventions have shown that when you empower a girl or a woman, she becomes a catalyst for positive change.

NAYO was established in 2004 by four local youths to help other young people impacted by HIV/AIDS.

NAYO provides a holistic approach to youth and community development through a variety of interventions including running an HIV testing, prevention, and treatment clinic as well as services to breastfeeding mothers and children under five. 

They also provide educational support, lead youth clubs, and facilitate village savings and loan groups.  Since inception, NAYO has supported over 50,000 people in the Nancholi area of southern Malawi.

Since 2015, Fount for Nations has been complimenting the efforts of the Government of Malawi in building equal learning opportunities for Malawi’s children living with disabilities in order to ensure no child is left behind. They partner with teachers, parents and caregivers, health workers, and entire communities to provide a holistic experience for children.
